Extra-strong fiberglass masking tape, heat-resistant up to 280 °C
The GT280 is the "workhorse" for the toughest conditions in surface technology. When conventional polyester or polyamide tapes reach their mechanical limits, the fiberglass fabric demonstrates its full strength. With a temperature resistance of up to 280°C and extreme tensile strength, it is the ultimate solution for high-temperature processes and mechanically demanding pre-treatments.
A particular highlight is its enormous wear resistance: the GT280 is one of the few tapes that can even withstand sandblasting work combined with subsequent powder coating.
Key Advantages:
- Extreme heat resistance: Safe use at temperatures up to 280°C – ideal for special coatings and extremely long oven cycles.
- Maximum tear resistance: The fiberglass fabric offers a tensile strength of 700 N / 25 mm – guaranteed no accidental tearing.
- Sandblast resistant: Robust enough to protect sensitive surfaces during blasting without the tape wearing through.
- Residue-free: Despite the high adhesive strength, the silicone adhesive can be removed cleanly even after massive heat exposure.
Technical Data:
- Material: High-quality fiberglass fabric with silicone adhesive.
- Temperature: Heat-resistant up to 280°C.
- Total thickness: 0.18 mm (extremely robust).
- Tensile strength: 700 N / 25 mm.
- Color: White.
When to use the GT280?
Choose the GT280 if you have components that need to be blasted and then powder-coated directly without changing the tape in between. It is also the safest choice for extremely heavy components that remain in the oven for a very long time at high heat. If you are simply looking for a clean paint line at standard temperatures, our blue polyester masking tape is the more economical choice. For delicate masking beyond 220°C, we recommend our polyamide masking tape (260°C).
Practical FAQ:
Does the fabric fray at the edges? Thanks to the high-quality coating, fraying is minimized, allowing you to still achieve clean separation edges.
Is it thicker than normal masking tape? Yes, at 0.18 mm it is significantly more substantial. This helps immensely in quickly gripping and peeling off the tape after curing, even while wearing gloves.
Application Recommendation:
Due to the fabric structure, press the tape down particularly firmly at the edges. Ideal for flat surfaces and large radii. For very tight, complex 3D contours, a more flexible tape like the red crepe-polyester is often easier to handle.
