Heat-resistant polyamide masking tape extra thick – 260 °C heat resistance
The extra-thick polyamide masking tape is the high-end solution for extreme thermal loads. With a heat resistance of up to 260°C, it is predestined for demanding powder coatings, e-coating (KTL) processes, or masking during extremely long curing times.
Due to the increased material thickness of 0.08 mm, it offers significantly higher mechanical stability and tear resistance during handling compared to standard tapes.
Key Advantages:
- Extreme heat resistance: Safe use up to 260°C without melting, splashing, or adhesive residue.
- High material thickness (0.08 mm): Extra-thick film for easier application and better protection against mechanical impacts.
- Superior chemical resistance: Resistant to acids, solvents, and aggressive pre-treatments (e.g., anodizing).
- Residue-free removal: The high-quality silicone adhesive can be removed cleanly and in one piece even after massive heat exposure.
Technical Data:
- Material: Polyamide (Kapton-based) with silicone adhesive.
- Temperature: Continuous load up to 260°C.
- Total thickness: 0.08 mm (extra thick).
- Color: Amber / Yellow-brown (transparent orange).
When do you need Polyamide?
While polyester tapes (blue) reach their physical limits at 220°C, polyamide is just getting started. Use this tape for heavy components with very long dwell times or if your oven temperature exceeds the 220°C mark. The higher thickness also ensures that the tape tears less frequently when being removed – a real time advantage for large series.
Practical FAQ:
Is it the same as Kapton tape? Yes, the base is identical. However, this version is extra thick, which reduces the risk of wrinkling during masking.
Can I also use it for anodizing? Yes, the chemical resistance is excellent and reliably protects fittings in galvanic baths.
Application Recommendation:
Apply to the degreased surface. Due to the higher rigidity of the 0.08 mm film, we recommend firmly rubbing the edges with a plastic spatula to reliably exclude capillary effects under the tape.
