Strong masking tape made of crepe-polyester in red. Heat-resistant up to 220 °C
The KP170 is the first choice for all coaters who require extremely high adhesive strength and mechanical resistance. By combining a crepe structure with a polyester carrier, this red tape offers an impressive total thickness of 0.170 mm. This makes it significantly more robust than standard polyester tapes and protects critical surfaces even under tougher mechanical stress during masking.
The striking red color also ensures excellent visibility on all metallic substrates – masking errors are detected immediately, and no adhesive strip is forgotten on the workpiece after the oven process.
Key Advantages:
- Extreme adhesive strength: The high-performance silicone adhesive bonds securely to rough and difficult substrates.
- Mechanically resilient: With a thickness of 0.17 mm, it offers significantly higher protection against sanding through or damage than thin standard films.
- High contrast: The red color stands out perfectly from steel and aluminum – for maximum process reliability.
- Residue-free: Even after exposure to temperatures up to 220°C, the tape can be removed cleanly without contaminating the substrate.
Technical Data:
- Material: Special crepe-polyester with silicone adhesive.
- Temperature: Continuous load up to 220°C.
- Total thickness: 0.170 mm (extra strong).
- Tensile strength: Enormously high 210 N / 25 mm.
- Color: Red.
When to use the KP170?
Choose the KP170 if standard blue polyester masking tape is too thin for you or if you are working on very rough surfaces where adhesion is critical. The KP170 combines the flexibility of crepe with the heat resistance of polyester. For extreme curing times beyond 220°C, however, we recommend our polyamide masking tape up to 260°C.
Practical FAQ:
Does the red tape leave shadows on light-colored paint? No, the silicone adhesive is colorless and heat-stable. The red coloring of the carrier serves purely for better visibility during masking and de-masking.
Can I use it for curves? Yes, thanks to the slight crepe structure, the tape is significantly more conformable and can be guided around radii more easily than rigid, smooth tapes.
Application Recommendation:
Press the edges down firmly (ideally with a plastic spatula) to prevent powder coating from bleeding under. As with all professional tapes: only use on completely dry and grease-free surfaces.
