Primers and clear coats in powder coating

Powder coating primer

2. Corrosion protection : Primers provide basic protection against corrosion, especially on metallic substrates.
3. Leveling of surface irregularities : They help to level out small bumps and porosities in the substrate, allowing for a smoother final coating.

Powder coating clear coats (colorless/transparent)

Clearcoats are typically made from polyurethane, epoxy resins, or acrylic resins. The type of clearcoat depends on the specific surface coating requirements, such as durability, UV resistance, and scratch resistance. The clearcoat in powder coating serves as a protective layer and can also enhance gloss and color intensity. A good clearcoat layer can also ensure longer life and better weather resistance. The selection of the clearcoat formulation depends on the application and part requirements, including requirements for surface finish, durability, and resistance to chemicals and weathering.
