Touch-up Pen RAL 3020 Traffic Red

Ready-mixed touch-up pen in RAL 3020 Traffic Red, available in matt or gloss, for touching up scratches and small paint damage on powder-coated and painted surfaces. RAL 3020 is the warning colour used for road signs, barriers and safety-relevant machine parts, not to be confused with RAL 3000 Fire Red, which is the standard colour for fire extinguishers and fire safety equipment. The two shades look similar at first glance, side by side the difference is clear, Traffic Red leans warmer and more orange. This red touch-up pen also works well for touch-ups on vehicles.

Touch-up pen for agricultural machinery, safety barriers and warning markings

RAL 3020 is a standard colour in agricultural machinery, many tractor and implement manufacturers use this or a very similar red. It is also common on machine guards, safety barriers, emergency stop areas and warning markings on industrial equipment, all typically powder-coated in RAL 3020. Scratches and chips usually come from everyday mechanical wear, stone chips or manoeuvring.

Quick guide

Clean and degrease the area, sand it lightly if the damage goes deeper, shake the pen well, then apply the RAL 3020 paint in two thin coats with 10 minutes drying time in between. Leave to cure fully for at least 24 hours before polishing. For the full step-by-step guide with photos, see Powder coating repair made easy.

FAQs

Is RAL 3020 the same as RAL 3000 Fire Red?

No. RAL 3000 Fire Red is the standard colour for fire extinguishers and fire safety equipment and looks slightly cooler and darker. RAL 3020 Traffic Red is warmer and more orange and is mainly used for road signs, machine guards and warning markings. This touch-up pen is mixed exclusively for RAL 3020.

Is this touch-up pen suitable for agricultural machinery and attachments?

Yes. Many agricultural machines are powder-coated in RAL 3020 or a very similar red, the touch-up pen is well suited for spot repairs on panels, mudguards and attachments. With very specific factory finishes there can be a slight shade variation, at normal viewing distance this is usually not noticeable.

How much surface area does one pen cover?

With 12 ml of paint and two coats applied, one pen covers roughly 500 to 600 cm² as a rough estimate, about the size of an A4 sheet. In practice, a touch-up pen is used for spot repairs rather than full coverage, so one pen usually lasts for many small scratches and chips across several parts.
