The transparent polyester masking tape is the precision tool for masking tasks where "flying blind" is not an option. Due to the full transparency of the carrier material, you maintain complete control over the workpiece, making this tape a favorite for complex components.

With a temperature resistance of 220°C, it is designed for all common curing processes in powder coating and e-coating (KTL).

Advantages for Powder Coating

  • Full visibility of markings: Layout lines, fittings, or fine bores remain visible after taping. This allows for exact trimming and positioning directly on the component.
  • Precise overlapping: You can see exactly how much adhesive surface is overlapping when using multiple strips. This prevents gaps and ensures uniform edge formation.
  • Perfect for two-layer designs: When masking on surfaces that are already powder-coated, the tape can be aligned with millimeter precision to the existing paint edge.
  • Adhesion control: Air bubbles or contaminants under the tape are immediately detected. This prevents the tape from lifting in the oven and powder from creeping under the masking.

Technical Data

  • Carrier: Tear-resistant polyester film.
  • Adhesive: Thermostable silicone adhesive (no smearing, no melting).
  • Temperature: Continuous load up to 220°C.
  • Thickness: 0.060 mm (60µ) for extremely flat powder edges.
  • Removal: Residue-free removal, ideal when lukewarm.

Comparison: Polyester vs. Standard Tapes

Unlike conventional crepe tape (usually rubber adhesive), the silicone adhesive of this tape does not burn in the oven. While paper tapes often tear or cause "frayed" edges, the thin polyester film ensures a clean, sharp separation line without adhesive residue on the metal.

Practical FAQ

Does it leave residue? No, the adhesive is chemically formulated to separate cleanly from the workpiece even after 30-60 minutes at 200°C.

Does the tape adhere to powder coatings? Yes, the silicone adhesive also sticks to the smooth surface of already cured powder layers.

Can I use it for sandblasting? Suitable for light blasting (sweeping). For coarse blasting media, we recommend our mechanically stronger fiberglass masking tape.

Application Recommendation

Clean the surface with silicone remover. Press the tape down firmly (especially at the edges). For the best result, remove the tape shortly after the oven cycle while the component still has residual heat.
