Silicone Plugs & Tapered Stoppers for your Powder Coating
Precise masking determines how economically you operate in your custom coating shop. Our classic tapered silicone plugs provide the most reliable protection for boreholes and metric threads (M4 to M20). While conventional tapered rubber stoppers often fail at typical curing temperatures, our heat-resistant solutions guarantee absolute dimensional stability up to 315°C (600°F).
Rubber Plugs or Silicone? The right choice for your process
For chemical pre-treatment or KTL (E-coat) tanks, EPDM plugs are often sufficient. In powder coating, however, silicone is essential due to the thermal load. We offer specialized geometries for every application:
- Secure Thread Protection: For maximum precision in internal threads, it is best to use our specially developed heat-resistant thread plugs.
- Variable Boreholes: If you want to cover different diameters with just one part, our multi-flange pull plugs are your most efficient choice.
- Studs & External Threads: To protect protruding threaded studs, use our heat-resistant silicone caps, which guarantee a clean paint edge.
Tapered Plugs: For Blind Holes and Through-Holes
Handling is crucial, especially with through-holes. Our silicone pull plugs can be easily pulled through your component and reliably seal both sides of the hole. This effectively prevents the so-called Faraday cage effect and ensures even powder distribution right up to the edge of your masking.
Utilize Professional Synergies
Working efficiently means cleverly combining masking and hanging. Use our coating hooks in conjunction with our plugs to ensure optimal grounding. For surface masking that extends beyond the borehole, we also recommend our heat-resistant tape.
Expert FAQ for You:
Which Shore hardness is ideal?
Our plugs feature an optimized Shore hardness. They are flexible enough to seal your threads, but firm enough to stay securely in the hole during compressed air blow-off.
Are the plugs silicone-free (painting compatible)?
Yes, regarding paint compatibility. The high-quality silicone does not release oils, so you reliably avoid cratering or "fish-eyes" in the finish.
