What is the RAL color system?

The RAL system is a widely recognized color system that defines standardized colors. The RAL color system was introduced in 1927 and has been an important standard in color technology ever since. It consists of over 200 colors that have been carefully standardized to ensure high color fidelity and comparability. The colors are used for a wide variety of applications, such as in construction, the furniture and plastics industries, the graphics and printing sectors, and many other areas. The RAL system is recognized worldwide and is widely used as a reference for color selection and determination.

How do the gloss levels differ?

"The glossy surface has a stronger color intensity than a matte or finely textured surface because the light is scattered on a matte, textured surface."

The " smooth high gloss " and " smooth glossy " gloss levels give surfaces a smooth finish with an attractive gloss level of 80-95%. It is best suited for surfaces in good condition. It is not ideal for heavily rusted and oxidized surfaces, as the imperfections become visible on a smooth and reflective surface and impair the appearance.

The " smooth satin " and " smooth matte " finishes are easy to maintain and ideal for highlighting motorcycles. They are smooth and less susceptible to scratches than a dull matte finish. They are well-suited for slightly rusted and oxidized surfaces, as they conceal small pits and irregularities and are more resistant to material emissions than a glossy finish.

Scratches and dents caused by rough off-road use are less noticeable on a matte surface than on a smooth one, and can easily be covered with a matte touch-up pen without being noticeable. Especially on heavily rusted and oxidized parts, the " fine-textured matte " finish can save them, as it effectively conceals pits and unevenness.

For particularly demanding applications, we recommend our high-quality "Super Durable" high-gloss paints. These powder coatings are characterized by particularly high weather resistance, achieved through the chemical modification of their composition. Furthermore, the powder is also available as a clear coat, making it ideal for high-quality surfaces. Our "Super Durable" paints are an excellent choice for applications requiring longevity and high weather resistance.
